University Avenue Bed and Breakfast closes its doors Nov. 13 2016

The word Good Bye and the way it is written in other countries.
'Good Bye' translated into the following languages: Chinese, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Nepali, Norwegian, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Spanish and Zulu
The University Avenue Bed and Breakfast will be permanently ending it's 21+ year run as being a premier lodging establishment in Columbia Missouri on November 13th 2016 at 12 pm.

This business first opened in February of 1995 by three ladies because they wanted to provide a beautiful place for visitors (initially MU guests) to stay and over those 21 long years has welcomed guests from every continent except Antarctica.

The Bed and Breakfast was sold to myself and my wonderful wife (who I will always be proud of as she took on a dream I wanted to pursue, uncertain of how it would turn out) in December 2005.  Funny tidbit about that, when we moved here to assume ownership, other guests staying during that time had no idea the property exchanged owners and were surprised when they found out.

As for why we are closing; well.. all we can say is we began thinking about the sell of the property (preferable to new innkeepers) in mid 2014. Then at the start of 2016 it was clear to us that it was time and we began implementing our exit strategy and we listed on several B&B affiliated websites with absolutely zero inquiries from people who would be interested in buying and keeping the Bed and Breakfast going. Beyond that, we're not giving details so please.. don't ask.

The property that resides at 1315 University Avenue in Columbia Missouri will now become student housing beginning in January 2017 after it goes through a transformation from B&B to dorms and we wish the many future residents who will walk through these doors all the best. We also want to thank the (soon to be) new owner whom we know will do a wonderful job of maintaining such a historic beautiful property in East Campus as we have for the last 11 years.

As for myself, I want to express my utmost appreciation to quite a few of our guests who over our 11 year tenure just weren't guest, you became our friends and we always looked forward to seeing you each time you came to stay with us. To you, your friendly faces will be profoundly missed.

I would also like to express a HUGE thank you to the many University of Missouri departments who used us for their visitor lodging.  You are the reason this Bed and Breakfast came to be (literally) and we only wish that our beautiful home could have been bought by new innkeepers so that relationship could have gone on longer.

I also want to thank all the other local organizations who we worked with to put up their visiting musical artist, employee's and VIP visitors.  We wish your organization/business all the best and much success in the future.

This is the final blog post that will be published for the University Avenue Bed and Breakfast.  This blog account will be shut down sometime in 2017 along with the Bed and Breakfast website. All the Bed and Breakfast's social media pages (Facebook, Google+, Twitter & LinkedIn) will be shut down sometime in late December.

Signing off for the last and final time...goodbye to all.
