Ahoy! Its Float your Boat for the Food Bank, April 30 2016

It is almost here, one of Columbia's most exciting events...I speak of the Float your Boat for the Food Bank. And what a fun and thrilling event it is, if you have not attended, please put this on your calendar of things to do this year.

This year sea worthy captains and their crews will set sail on April 30th beginning at 10am in hopes of capturing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for those completing in the short and long race courses. Some of the other fine awards include but not limited to: Best in Show; Can't Believe It's Cardboard, Peoples Choice, Best Spirit and my personal favorite...the Titanic Award for the Best Sinking.  Thats right, there is an award for the team that not only goes down with their ship, but does the best job of doing it!

All of this fun is for a wonderful organization in The Food Bank for Central & Northeast Missouri in their steadfast mission to provide services to conquer hunger in communities.

Get a team together and get signed up to be part of this event. Don't want to get your feet wet? We'll consider staying on shore and please make a donation to support Float Your Boat by visiting their website.

CEC presents "The Dixie Swim Club" beginning April 7th thru 24th

Its getting to be that time of year when people break out the swim wear and head to the beach. It is no different for the cast of characters in CEC's production of 'The Dixie Swim Club'.

Each year for a single weekend in August we see Sheree, Dinah, Lexie, Vernadette and Jeri all head to their favorite beach cottage on North Carolina's Outer Banks where these 5 friends get caught up on everything from men, marriage, parenting and aging just to mention a few.

The bond that the 5 ladies built back in their college days while on the swim team is viewed from 4 of the August weekends over a span of 33 years and shows that with teamwork, no struggle is too great.

Performance dates are April 7-10, 14-17 and 21-24. Curtain times for Thursday, Friday and Saturday shows is 7:30 PM. Sunday matinees are at 2:00 PM.
